My pillow
by Alessia Vannini
All of the countless times I’ve screamed at you, you made sure others wouldn’t hear.
You kept me comfy when I was at my lowest. Every time I soaked you down with my stream of tears, you still made sure I was feeling cosy.
You always gave me a soundproof space where I could scream out all of the things that were tearing me inside.
You snuggled me during my countless nights and days of aimlessness, and you never judged. You supported me while I was badly playing the guitar, poorly singing, rarely studying and constantly sobbing… surely the thing I do best.
You kept me mellow those days I couldn’t get up from bed, and those nights I stayed up overthinking, wasting time and crying instead of sleeping.
You counted sheeps with me when I couldn’t fall asleep. You lulled me into sweet dreams when I was feeling more alive once my eyes were closed.
You kept me comfortable when I was uncomfortable with people around me, with my life, with the world, with myself.
